Palworld 1.0 Breeding Guide: Cakes, Inheritance and Mutations
Build a reliable breeding loop in 1.0, choose parents with the calculator, and use the new cakes for the result you actually want.
Breeding in Palworld 1.0 is still built around a male and female Pal assigned to a Breeding Farm with cake, but the update adds mutation and new cake effects. Start with the offspring you need, then optimize passives and individual values after the route works.
Fast breeding workflow
- Open the Palworld breeding calculator and search for the desired child.
- Choose a parent pair you already own or can obtain easily.
- Remove unwanted passive traits from the parent pool where possible.
- Assign one male and one female parent to the Breeding Farm and supply the chosen cake.
- Hatch several eggs and compare passives and IVs with the IV calculator.
- Use the best offspring as the next parent when building a longer chain.
Cakes in 1.0
| Cake | Official 1.0 effect | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
| Regular Cake | Standard breeding | Routine parent combinations. |
| Mushroom Cake | Slightly raises the chance of higher stats | Improving offspring quality. |
| Vegetable Cake | Produces two Pal Eggs at once | Higher throughput. |
| Deluxe Vegetable Cake | Raises mutation and stronger-stat chances | Targeted mutation attempts. |
| Special Cake | Raises the chance of inheriting multiple parent passives | Building a specific passive set. |
Passives and IVs
Do not rely on a universal percentage copied from an old guide. Parent pools, cake choice, and patches affect the practical result. Keep parents with only useful passives, hatch in batches, and record which generation improves the line. IVs matter for HP, attack, and defense, but 1.0 also provides progression paths that reduce the need to discard every imperfect Pal.
When to use the calculator
The calculator is best for finding valid parent combinations and shortest routes. It does not promise a passive or mutation outcome. Recheck the result after data updates because 1.0 added new Pals and changed the breeding pool.
Plan a multi-generation breeding chain
For a target that cannot be reached from your best parents in one step, work backward from the desired child. Find an intermediate Pal that can inherit the useful passives, then use that offspring in the final pair. Keep one clean parent from each successful generation; replacing both parents at once makes it harder to know where unwanted traits entered the pool.
Name or sort breeding candidates consistently. A simple scheme that records role, passives, and IV quality saves more time than repeatedly opening every detail panel. Store combat, work, and movement lines separately because their ideal passives are different.
Breeding problems and fixes
| Problem | Check |
|---|---|
| No egg progress | Confirm one male and one female are assigned, cake is in the farm, and both can reach the farm. |
| Wrong child | Recheck the exact variant and current calculator data. |
| Too many unwanted passives | Use cleaner parents and reduce extra traits in the pool. |
| Good passives, weak stats | Keep the line, then improve IVs in a later generation or with available progression items. |
